Lawyer chat rooms .  I have never had any luck finding a good chat rooms for lawyers and people with questions.  If you find one, e-mail me the link. 

Non-lawyer chat rooms .  See the links page for Newcomer type chat rooms and newsgroups, and instructions for downloading a chat client.

Law newsgroups .   I go to several lawyer newsgroups where questions can be posted by anyone and answered by me or any other attorney who happens to look in.  I  use the nicknames Greyprof and McGyver.   When using the following information, remember that newsgroups open and close, and go private, all the time.  If the following information doesn't work, e-mail me and I'll get you the latest.

My favorite is misc.legal on usenet.  If you are not familiar with newsgroups, and you use Outlook Express for e-mail, go here and register (free): http://news.fu-berlin.de/ then set up a new account in Outlook Express using the password the news service will give you by e-mail, then click this link to get to the newsgroup: news://cis.dfn.de/misc.legal .  If all of that is Greek to you, you can post a question here about newsgroups and I or one of the techies will help: http://communities.msn.com/ComputingSolutionsCenter .
Naturally, you can use any other newsreader and any other news server.

Computer Stuff:

Newcomer chat rooms.  There are several chat rooms where help can be found concerning computer problems.  The Tech and Gadgets room on Microsoft Network is new and not busy yet, but it's a friendly place with regulars chatting about everything and helping people who come in with questions.  It's always open.  It is accessable using Internet Explorer.  There is a short download involved the first time.  I host in the Tech and Gadgets room 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. (Pacific) every day.
